Hi! I'm Matt.
I'm the guy who accidentally turned a tamale company into a million-dollar-a-month empire (yes, really - from $10K to $1M per month in 60 days flat). But let me back up a bit...
Before this I'd already helped design self sustaining expanding cargo containers for a Chinese billionaire in my industrial design/engineering company, used social media data to psychoanalyze the internet with Harvard and Yale professors (yes, really), and launched a few million-dollar e-commerce ventures. So naturally, starting my own marketing company, The Montecito Group in 2015, seemed like the logical next step when people started asking for marketing help.
For the next decade, I became Firestone Walker's CMO's digital right-hand man, where we somehow turned 805 Beer into California's #1 craft beer and is considered the most successful beer launch of the decade. Not bad for a guy who thought marketing beer would be "pretty easy."
Along the way, I've burned through $25 million in ad spend (in the good way) for brands like Hawaii, Outrigger Hotels, Firestone Walker, Stepladder Creamery, Coronado Brewing Co. and Asics. Meta even asked me to consult them on their own ad platform, which was both flattering and slightly awkward.
Was it all a wildly successful rocketship journey? Mostly yes, but with enough failures to make me approximately 100x better at digital marketing. My clients have landed in Forbes, scaled to multi million dollars a month, and beaten competitors with 10x their budget.
These days, I'm in the top 1% of digital advertisers, specializing in e-commerce growth and CPG brands. When I'm not obsessing over conversion rates, you'll find me on the golf course (low single-digit handicap) or surfing (18 years and counting).
If you want to work with someone who's made enough mistakes to know what actually works, let's talk. I'd love to help grow your brand.
I've helped over 100+ clients improve their online marketing.
The agency model is broken! I am darn right sick of how expensive, slow moving, and self focused agencies are these days. The model doesn't even work anymore with set numbers of social posts or ad creative, they force content out to complete obligations and they force you to spend more money so they make more. Plus you get setup with a fresh out of college 1-2 year of experience marketing associate to complete your work.
The same simply monthly fee, no matter what you spend.
You are free to test and change however you see fit and your money is safe.
We don't promise you the world, we let you know real world expectations based on your contribution levels.
I won't let there be holes in the marketing funnel even outside of the work I am doing.
I am heavily focus on what will make the biggest and fastest difference.
I have nothing to hide, we work as a team through the ups and downs.

At bare minimum I would like to spend 50X the cost per result per week on Meta and the cost per result is typically inflated when launching a new account. This makes sure the campaign get's enough purchase data to optimize.
So if it costs $10 per purchase then I would like to spend at least $500 per week.
I believe most companies overwhelm you with data and charge you the extra time to make pretty slide shows.
I sit down with you weekly to show you our pre-agreed upon KPIs as well as walk you through a POV of what is working, what is not and where I want to lead us. You can request data at any time from me.
A typical client is in the $3,000 to $15,000 range per month depending on the services. Hourly consulting is $150 per hour.
I put on my old inspector hat on here. I want to take my only chance to see the company for the first time and act like a normal customer. So I buy the product like everybody and document my thoughts and feelings as I buy, recieve and use the product.
From here I will read every single review and sometimes talk to customers.
I have marketed in almost every industry I can think of, so finding a new one is pretty fun actually. I always sign up for industry newsletters, review how these products have been marketed through history, see what has worked and what has not. Is this an emotional product or functional. I see the ad platforms, website, social and creative as a tool kit and each industry has the same goal but just pulling different levers.
